Did you know that Lions Clubs throughout the UK collect unwanted and damaged spectacles and hearing aids? Tens of thousands of recycled items are sorted and distributed each year with all donations examined by a team of Lions and other volunteers in the recycling workshop. Sorted pairs of glasses are then sent for grading and distribution directly to contacts running eye clinics in places such as Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria, and Nepal. In addition, volunteers from the Unite for Sight charity are supplied with spectacles to take with them on missions to countries across the world.

How to donate spectacles

Denby Dale District Lions Club have been collecting unwanted glasses and hearing aids for some considerable time now and are proud to be part of this ongoing Lions programme.

To donate your spectacles, please take them to the recycling receptacle within the Denby Dale Doctors Surgery on Wakefield Road. Our thanks go to them for hosting this facility.

We need your unwanted glasses and hearing aids!
