Lion Philip Robinson
1948 – 2018
Lion Philip passed to higher service on Monday 16th April 2018 after a brief illness.
An active and dedicated Lion since 1988, he served two terms as president of Denby Dale District Lions Club. He was a leading light at Christmas with Santa's Sleigh, always one to amuse the children, he would don an elf outfit, complete with fairy lights. He organised the rota for drivers and turned out in the foulest of weather to accompany the sleigh. He built and maintained the sleigh keeping it in good order. He was also our quartermaster, looking after all the club assets. He managed the loan of our three tents to local organisations, storing and delivering the marquees as needed. He built the portable bars for our beer festivals and maintained the beer pumps and other equipment. His efforts did not end with Lions; he was a volunteer driver for a local charity for the elderly.
A kind man with strong views and a heart of gold, a Yorkshireman through and through.
He will be sadly missed by all the club, his wife Sarah and sons: Mark, Luke (also a Lion) and John. |
